Hello!
Welcome to my About page! Here, you can learn a little about me and about how Waxism came about. I am proud of what I do and hope you enjoy my site. I'm always happy to answer any questions you might have - although it's probably best to WhatsApp me rather than call!
Alex.

I was brought up with an emphasis on self care and how to look after myself, so it was a natural progression for me to enter the beauty industry in some way. Although my "pre-baby" career was in sales, I'd always been interested in something in the beauty industry. Originally training in many different disciplines, I found both a passion and a talent in the field of hair removal, and once I started out, it was this that stuck (all puns intended!). I gained further knowledge from reading materials, colleagues and of course some of the top professionals in the industry, taking training courses and eventually becoming a specialist in my field with over 207 treatments per month in 2024.
I am fully registered member of the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists, and I take great pride in my work. I place a special emphasis on my the clients themselves, rather than adopting the conveyor belt “in and out” system so often seen. It is this focus on the person as well as the actual treatment that ensures my clients return again and again, with some even becoming friends.
As a professional who focusses on one specialism only, I am highly placed to offer a thorough and surprisingly comfortable service waxing almost any part of the body, as well as offering top advice on how to care for your skin both pre and post treatment, and the best products to use to do this.
In addition to my beauty qualifications. I has also undertaken training around my business and family in counselling skills. Over three years, I have gained my NCFE registered levels one, two and three, which enables me to be a great listening ear for my clients during their hair removal sessions. I also undertook a year long course in psychodynamic psychotherapy in 2023. In addition to this, I have trained with Behind the Mask, an organisation dedicated to helping beauty industry professionals recognise signs of domestic abuse and BeTransAware, a HABIA endorsed education platform on Trans and Gender Diverse Awareness.

You can expect a warm welcome from the moment you walk through my door, both from me, and probably also from Gary, my friendly Golden Doodle. He likes to have a little schnuffle of people who come in the door, so if you have any problems with dogs, do let me know and I'll banish him to the kitchen!
Due to the nature of my work, we tend to become very good friends by the end of the appointment! A good session includes plenty of chats and sharing of stories and I'm always keen to hear about what's happening for you and yours. I rarely have to drag out the "been on your holidays yet?" line, but that said, travel is one of my favoured topics of conversation! Politics sometimes comes up, but only if you agree with me ;)
All in all, I very much look forward to meeting you when you're ready to get started on your sticky journey - remember, waxing is not just a one time thing. You get the best results from regular sessions every 4 weeks!
